Devotion

Yep,I am totally devoted to making beads, each and everyday I try to be a better lampworker, do you ever feel good enough?.With my goldsmith  background I could make some fantastic silver jewellery to adorn the beads, but I really don't want to take the time away from making beads, not even to make something for myself, I am a sad case;)!
Lampworking has made me very focused (and single track minded!), it is as if I have no choice in the matter, it (or perhaps the flame) compels me . What keeps the excitement alive for me throughout the last 9 years?...For me, definitely that I don't stay with a single style, that would be the end of my bead making very soon. Probably would be better for business though, but I love what I do and that is what matters the most to me. this is why I make beads, purely for the pleasure it gives me, and it is the best feeling  to know that someone else loves one of my creations too :)

I think I am living my dream :)

I honestly believe that when you are doing what you love, it shows.
Your ever-changing style is what I love about your beads. If you were one of the bead makers that makes the same thing over and over - you would perish. And we can't have that, now can we?

Thanks Ellen, and I would perish without your nice comments :)

I love the new beads, and the new look to your blog!

I too cannot stay with one style very long, otherwise boredom sets in.

Thanks you Jane:)

Such an inspirational post Astrid. I wish I could sustain my family from my glass bead making but unfortunately I also have to work at what I call my "real job". I don't and never have considered my bead making to be a job even though I may spend more hours a week doing that than working. When you love something it doesn't feel like work. Your beads are beautiful and I love that you change your style often - it keeps me interested in your work and watching your art evolve.

Hi Bobbie, I am so glad I don't have to sustain my family with bead making, I think that would be hard to do. But I spend more hours a day on this then I ever did on my job, go figure ;)
